Five Favourite Things to Do at the Airport

Travellers spend a lot of time at airports and it’s quite easy to get bored during those long stints when you’re waiting for your flight. For some people this is the worst part of the whole trip, the waiting game, but for others it’s a necessary evil. Keep in mind, there’s generally nothing that can be done about waiting at the airport, especially if there’s a delay, so you might as well make the most of your time!

Here’s a list of the best things to do when you find yourself in an airport for a few hours, be it because you got there too soon or your flight was delayed. There’s nothing worse than not allowing for enough time at the airport and having to rush through so be sure you arrive with plenty of time so you can take part in these great time spenders!

People Watch

People do some crazy ridiculous things in general everyday life but it seems to get amped up when they are waiting for a flight. Pick yourself out a good seat and watch all the madness unfold, from overly affectionate couples and moody teenagers to fascinating wardrobe choices and deplorable personal hygiene. Of particular note is just how people react when bad news comes through, like a delay in boarding time. If you’re not watching people, chances are you’re the one being judged!

Eat

Airports are grossly overpriced when it comes to food and many places to find food aren’t that great but you can find some beacons of light and make the most of it. A lot of modern flights don’t offer food on board so be sure to get a good meal before you fly, preferably something that will make you sleepy and content and not need to use the toilet once in the air.

Wander

Some airports are enormous with so many nooks and crannies to explore. Others are boring. But the ones of the former variety are just amazing to discover for yourself. From shopping to entertainment, architectural designs to just an overall nice place to be, you may forget you’re there only to get somewhere else, so be sure to keep an eye on the departures screen!

Drink

The key here is to get just drunk enough that they will still let you board.

Chill Out

When all else fails or you don’t feel like doing anything else, just find a place to sit and relax. Buy a magazine or pull out your music or tablet and watch something, while being sure to keep an eye on your flight information. You can never go wrong with relaxing.
