THE MYSTERY BEHIND GREECE’S TEMPLES
Astronomers believe that Greek temples were built to align the occupied parts of Earth with the planets in the sky. It is a belief that the ancient Greeks were astute enough to build their holy venues and these represents something greater than us. A Spanish language teacher, Manolo Fernandez also believes that Greek temples were not placed randomly.
If we look at the map of Greece, the temple of Poseidon in Sounion forms an isosceles triangle with the Hephaisteion in Athens and the temple of Aphaia Athena in Aegina. This is assured by Fernandez that the triangles reflect the movements of sun, moon or planets and stars with respect to Earth’s surface. In the National Observatory of Athens, Fernandez while seeing the moon, Saturn, Mars and constellations, is obstinate that the Greek temples were built to align the occupied parts of Earth with the planets in the sky.
According to astronomy or mythology, the religious sites were situated in a triangulation termed as ‘sacred geography’. It was termed as a ‘grand design’ which bonds sacred sites with each other and the sky, by Jean Richer, a French literature professor at the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis in the 1960s. He declared that Greece’s 12 sectors reflects the 12 zodiac signs. But these theories never got that respect from orthodox science which is based on proven facts.
