*a first (very rough) draft poem in response to the prompt for day 8 of November PAD*
“Everyday Normal Girl”
After the work is done
and the day begins to slow,
one simple moment
A blue ink pen,
held between fingers
tipped with dirt encrusted
shades of chipped polish
reflecting the heavy load
of a normal routine.
cracks concrete reality
revealing the numinous.

( prompt for day 7 of the 2011 November PAD CHAPBOOK CHALLENGE: “what won’t wait”)
Still
afraid
to accept
the here and now,
life moves on as I wait impatiently.

(a new draft of an old poem for day 6 of the 2011 November PAD CHAPBOOK CHALLENGE )
“Another Saturday Night”
Tonight
I will drink champagne
from a finger smudged wine glass
I will wear red beaded, loose pants
from another place
and my hair will coil and twist
like upset snakes
while I sit alone
upon a red sofa that just might
flip into a bed.
I will drink tonight
with my lips open
feeling sped up
even in the silence
Knowing there is no place
for the speed
to take me.

Dream On
“The dream is a little hidden door in the innermost and most secret recess of the soul.” – C.G. Jung
Slipping
silently into
the space between.

Who am I
within the silence?
Forgotten
and afraid,
slipping into spaces that
no longer exist.
