“Muse”
I exist
in the space between
thoughts and
ideas,
inhaling and exhaling
manifestation.

A “Different Perspective” poem #novpad Day 10
A “Normal” Poem #novpad Day 8
*a first (very rough) draft poem in response to the prompt for day 8 of November PAD*
“Everyday Normal Girl”
After the work is done
and the day begins to slow,
one simple moment
A blue ink pen,
held between fingers
tipped with dirt encrusted
shades of chipped polish
reflecting the heavy load
of a normal routine.
cracks concrete reality
revealing the numinous.
Still (Tetractys)
( prompt for day 7 of the 2011 November PAD CHAPBOOK CHALLENGE: “what won’t wait”)
Still
afraid
to accept
the here and now,
life moves on as I wait impatiently.
~ Tetractys should express a complete thought, profound or comic, witty or wise using 20 syllables. They can be written with more than one verse but each subsequent verse must invert the syllable count. There is no limit to the number of verses. The structure is:
line 1 – 1 syllable
line 2 – 2 syllables
line 3 – 3 syllables
line 4 – 4 syllables
line 5 – 10 syllables
Addiction Poem
(a new draft of an old poem for day 6 of the 2011 November PAD CHAPBOOK CHALLENGE )
“Another Saturday Night”
Tonight
I will drink champagne
from a finger smudged wine glass
I will wear red beaded, loose pants
from another place
and my hair will coil and twist
like upset snakes
while I sit alone
upon a red sofa that just might
flip into a bed.
I will drink tonight
with my lips open
feeling sped up
even in the silence
Knowing there is no place
for the speed
to take me.
Broken Poem
(prompt for day 5 of the 2011 November PAD CHAPBOOK CHALLENGE)
On the days I cannot breathe
and my skin burns feverish
with boiling blood-
One broken column
reminds me
that there is still
beauty in the breaking down.
